Is it humanely possible to break a dog's neck?

I'm sure it's possible but why would you want to..... Just kick the dog off you if you ever get attacked. I got attacked by a neighbor's dog when I was 8 and I ended up just hitting it in the nose and used my foot to push it off me and it left me alone.
