Is the treatment of farm animals in northern Italy good? Specifically dairy cows.?

All I know is how humanely they are killed. A bullet to the brain. But I want to know how humanely they are treated while still breathing. Specifically dairy cows and egg-laying chickens, because I am a vegetarian
