Do you think a shock collar would work in this situation?
I have a Great Dane x Pit x Lab x Boxer x Mastiff and he has suddenly become possessive over things. A couple of weeks ago he growled at and even tried to bite me when I went to pick up his food. Of course (and this may seem abusive to some people) I grabbed him by his neck and pinned him against the wall. He was okay for 2 weeks but today I went to pick up his food and he tried to bite me. This time (and again this may seem abusive) I kicked him for it. He's a BIG dog (122lbs lean) so I doubt he felt much of it. Just now I went to sit on the couch and he was laying on it, I tried to pull him off and he growled and snapped at me. I'm not about to let my own dog, for a second, think I'm his b*tch and that he can growl and snap and get his way. No, not gonna happen. I was thinking of buying an E- collar and using it on him. Every time he growls, tries to bite me, or suddenly thinks something belongs to him *ZZZAP!* Do you think a shock collar would send a better, more clear message that he is not the "alpha dog?" If a e-collar wont work I think I may just have him killed (humanely of course).
